Youth Summer Mission Trip

January 31, 2011 in Events, Youth Ministry

Our mission trip date is set, and we have registered 20 people for a trip to Nashville, TN, during the week of July 3rd to 8th. Our deadline to lower this number is Feb. 13th. So, we are asking you to commit early. A $60 deposit is due Feb. 13th. Also, right now there are 4 more available spots, if more that 20 people want to go. Here is some info on the trip.

What is the cost? The cost of this trip is $248. Our goal is that you will only have to pay the $60 deposit, but that depends on our fundraisers and if you help with them. We will have different fundraisers throughout the next several months, but you have to actually help with them to raise money for your trip. When it starts getting closer to the summer and you still haven’t raised the remainder of your $188, then you will have to either ask your parents or ask others to sponsor your trip.
We will be doing different evening activities that may have an additional cost. Plan on an additional $10. We will know these details closer to the trip. You might want to bring money for souvenirs or t-shirts ($16-$22). We might stay Friday and do something fun and relaxing that might cost money.

Who can come? Anyone in middle school or high school. You are welcome to invite others, but remember that the trip cost $248, and they will have to raise this money just like you.

What will we be doing? We will be partnering with local organizations and programs that seek to address the very basic needs of residents. Examples of possible service opportunities include: children’s programs, elderly centers, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and thrift stores. We will not know the exact details until we get there.

Where will we be staying? We typically house at area churches, schools or community centers and sleep on classroom floors (so air mattresses will be needed for a good nights sleep!)

When will we get there Sunday, and when will we leave Friday? Sunday, we will arrive in Nashville around 5:00 p.m. Friday, we are done in the morning (9-9:30 a.m.), but might stay the day to do some different things in Nashville. We will discuss this closer to time.

Please see back of this letter for summary of trip for the weekly schedule and a look at the Nashville community. Call (365-3528) or email (meghantravis@gmail.com) if you have any questions. Don’t forget $60 deposit is due Feb 13th.
