May 25, 2008: So Do Not Worry
Posted on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 2:16 pm“SO DO NOT WORRY”
Matthew 6:24-34
In this Scripture, Jesus’ point is not so much that we should stop being concerned about what we eat or the clothes our family will wear. God knows we need these things. He is saying that we spend way too much time worrying about things over which we have little control. Yes, keep your job. Make all the money you can. Obtain all the things you need, as much as you have the means to buy. As John Wesley said, “Make all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can.”
What Jesus is pointing out is that we spend so much time worrying about less important things and we have little time left for the more important. How many parents spend so much time making a living for their family that they have no time left to spend with their family. What do you think your children will remember years from now, the things you gave them or the time you spent with them?
Jesus doesn’t want us to spend all our time worrying about life. He wants us to spend a lot of time “living life.”
When we stop worrying and start trusting God, we open ourselves up to a multitude of possibilities. We begin to understand that for which God created us. We see what God wants to do in our lives. Remember, God’s plan is always much more than anything we could ever dream of on our own.
God Bless, See You Sunday,
David

Your comment
“As John Wesley said, “Make all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can.””
is not quite a correct quote. You have left off an important and integral part of what he said
It should be
Earn all you can by honest endeavour, without hurting yourself or your neighbor.
Save all you can in modest living and modest clothing not bought for fashion or to excess.
Give all you can, so that after caring for family and servants in the way described for saving, you give away the surplus .
