Ice Cream Social

Don’t forget the Ice Cream Social tonight at Mrs. Pettit’s house at 1501 S. Jefferson Street.  It will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Bring homemade ice cream or a dessert and enjoy the fellowship.  Also bring a lawn chair.

Notice

There will be NO Youth meeting tonight or next week.  We will resume our regular schedule on September 7.

Precept Bible Study

Precept Bible Study begins on Wednesday, August 27, at 9:00 a.m. in Baker Hall.  Workbooks are available for $22.00.  A nursery will be provided.  Everyone is welcome to come and study Exodus with us.

Fifth Sunday

Next Sunday, we will take a special offering for the Kentucky United

Methodist Children’s Home.  This is an opportunity to help with the financial support of this ministry to abused and hurting children.  Please give generously and help our Home to show these children that God loves them and so do we.

Church Bus

To date a total of $6,590 has been donated for our new bus, leaving a balance of $15,951 still needed.  If you would like to donate, just label your check for the Bus Fund and put it in the offering plate or bring it by the church office.

 

Prayer Walk & “Healthy Changes” Support Group

Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 5:30 p.m., we will have a prayer walk for spiritual and physical fitness, beginning in The Prayer Center parking lot.  After the walk, in The Prayer Center at 6:00 p.m. the new “Healthy Changes” Support Group will meet.  Come for encouragement and to encourage others with lifestyle changes you might wish to make.

 

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men will meet for breakfast Saturday, August 30,

at 8:00 a.m.  Place to be announced.

 



Church Bus

Faith Weaver Friends

Faith Weaver Friends will begin Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 3:00-5:30 p.m.  If you would like to sign up, there are forms on the table in the hallway.  We will pick up the children after school, and they will have a full afternoon packed with games, singing, crafts and music. We are looking for 10-12 volunteers to help with Faith Weaver Friends on Wednesday afternoons 3 or 4 times a year.  This would be only an hour commitment from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.  We are also looking for full- time group leaders.  If you can help in any way, see Kate Moore or Meghan.

 

Blood Drive

The Western KY Regional Blood Center (WKRBC) is holding a community blood drive in Baker Hall on Thursday, August 21, from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  This center provides blood for Caldwell County and most other local hospitals. Come, give blood, and save a life.

 

Ice Cream Social

Our annual Ice Cream Social will be next Sunday, August 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Mary Grace Pettit (1501 S. Jefferson St.).  Bring homemade ice cream or a dessert and come enjoy the fellowship and fun.  Be sure to bring your lawn chair.

We have started making palns for our children’s ministry, FaithWeaver Friends.  This is a fun-filled, Christ-centered program which builds lasting, meaningful relationships between kids and God, kids and kids, and kids and adults. 

We will pick up the children after school, and they will have a full afternoon pack with games, singing, crafting, and music.  We want to encourage all children to get involved and invite their friends.  To sign up, please return the registration form, which includes the contact information form, emergency medical release form, and the transportation form to the church office by Monday, August 18th. These can be found on the table in the hallway.



Twenty-four members and guests of the Growing Edge Sunday School Class traveled to Carrsville on Friday, August 8, to the Haus’f Bread Puddin’ for an evening of food and fellowship to honor their former teach, Pat Major. 

Following the delicious dinner, many walked the short distance to warch the sun set on the Ohio River. 

Those in attendance were Margaret David, Gerry and Danita Finley, Linda Jaeger, Charles and Rebecca Howton, Barbara Kenday, Barbara lane, Dick Lester, Pat and Randy Majors, Syble Martin, Duane and pat Miksch, Ann Carter Murphy, Frances Northington, Lucy Perry,Mildred Peters, Marie Shepherd, Doris Thomas, Jack and betty Williams, and John and Julie Wright.
