We have an unusual tulip that came up in our back yard this year. It’s a single flower that grew right out in the middle of our space. It’s unusual because tulips grow from bulbs and someone has to plant them.  They are most often found in groups in some flower bed. Yet, there it was, standing tall all by itself. Talk about blooming where you are planted.

Now, it’s quite possible this flower grew from a bulb that was dropped there by mistake. Maybe there used to be a bed there and this is all that is left. However it happened, that tulip spread a good deal of cheer by just doing its best in an awkward situation.

If you ever find yourself in circumstances not of your choosing remember that lone tulip and try blooming where you are planted. You may be surprised by the positive effect a good attitude can have in a difficult place.

Just across the road from the New Chapel UMC in Hancock County, there is a field covered in daffodils. No one knows from just where they came. It’s assumed there must have been a house there at one time and that the owner must have planted those flowers but it’s all been forgotten.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have such an effect on our world, so that long after we are gone from this place people would still be touched by what we did?

Maybe it’s time we all planted some flowers, not necessarily the literal kind. When we sew love in our surroundings who knows what will grow. When you give of yourself to God by serving others, that changes our world and it will always come back to you somehow.

When we joined the church we promised God we would give Him our service. If you are looking for a way to make a difference, come see me. Together we will explore where you might bloom for God.

  God bless,                                                                  David

Spiritual Banquet Table: Intimacy with Jesus

Study, Prayer, Accountability through Small Groups

This is going to be a platform for God to work in your life this summer.  Focusing on being changed from the inside out by God’s Work, through study and memorizing His Word, and through daily quite time with the Lord.  Then through being positioned well for growth through small groups, they will provide accountability, fellowship, study, and prayer.  As we are being transformed from the inside there is an outward change.

Physical Banquet Table: Outreach

Reaching out to the World inviting them to the Spiritual Banquet through out actions that we might be a “city on a hill”

When we are filled to the fullness, we turn tot the second banquet table of Jesus’ concern for the poor and oppressed for the people in our own community. “But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.  And you will be bless, cause they cannot repay you, for your will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.“

As you think and pray about this summer, ask the Lord to change you from the inside out that He might give you a Kingdom Perspective about live.  Ask God show you how to become apart of these banquet tables, being invited by God and inviting others.

A man esaped from a psychological health facility and walked along the road untilhe came to a small town.  Realizing if he drew arrention to himself suspicious residents might call the authorities, the man decided to be careful only to speak the truth.

He went through the middle of town saying to everyone he met, “The earth is round.  The earth is round.” As you might imagine, the authorities were soon called and the man was returned to his facility.  Sometimes, just knowing the truth is not enough.

As Christians, to grow spiritually and make a positive impact on those around us, we must tell the truth and our lives must also show that truth.  Faith in Jesus Christ is more than just information.  It must also be application.

We need to live the Bible as well as read it. It might be helpful to our friends to hear just how our relationship with Jesus has made a difference in our lives.

Yes, the man is correct, the world certainly is round; but what we need to know if how to live in that world.  Spiritual growth is mroe tan just information. It has to be real and it must affect all of our life.

Let’s work on that together.

God Bless,

David
